Lemongrass essential oil is extracted from fresh or partially dried Cymbopogon citratus leaves by steam distillation. This oil is said to combat fatigue and help refresh a tired body and mind. It is also a good way to keep a pet free of fleas and ticks. Lemongrass contains citral, which provides the main flavor of lemon peel.

The oil is believed to relieve headaches, nervous exhaustion and stress. It enhances the parasympathetic nervous system for faster recovery and stimulates glandular secretions. It helps tone muscles and tissues, relieving muscle pain. It is useful in treating sore throats, laryngitis and fever and helps prevent the spread of infection. It helps with colitis, indigestion and gastroenteritis. It clears oily skin and reduces excessive sweating.

May cause allergies, care must be taken when used on the skin. Avoid use during pregnancy.
