Lemon essential oil has a strong, fresh aroma and is extracted from the peel of fresh fruits by cold expression. This oil is refreshing to the mind and improves concentration, which is why it is often preferred in air fresheners for offices and banks. It is believed to help with rheumatism, arthritis and gout. It has been used to cure skin problems such as abscesses, boils, anthrax and acne. It improves the immune system and cleanses the body.

When used in an oil burner (a few drops in water), the vapors of lemon oil are used for colds, laryngitis, headaches and flu. Smelling the scent is helpful for combating depression, irritation, stress, lethargy and fatigue. When added to a bath or mixed with a massage oil, a few drops are said to relieve digestive problems, lack of energy, fatigue, infections, obesity, rheumatism, depression and stress. It is also used to help relieve hangovers.

For use on the skin it must be diluted.
